I don't know how or why these songs seem to keep writing themselves, but I'm not complaining!

Stitches, glue, duct tape, and booze,
An evanescent cure for a broken heart.
And when it seems there’s nothing left to lose,
You’re right back at the start.

    Some wounds never heal,
    Some are just scars.
But in the sincerity of it,
They make us who we are.
    So while you lay bleeding,
    Always keep in mind,
That it doesn’t matter who is with you,
    But who you left behind.

Your attempts to call me out are pathetic,
How many times do I have to prove myself true?
Though the pull of your voice is quite magnetic,
It was bound to happen that we say adieu.

Now though the times may be fleeting,
    Memories are often not.
Instead of tangling yourself in webs,
It’s passion that should be sought.

    Some wounds never heal,
    Some are just scars.
But in the sincerity of it,
They make us who we are.
    So while you lay bleeding,
    Always keep in mind,
That it doesn’t matter who is with you,
    But who you left behind.

Why you left me, I’ll never know,
But I’ll be in your thoughts.
And every time you hear her whisper,
It’s my voice that will come across.

    So while you lay bleeding,
    Always keep in mind,
That it doesn’t matter who is with you,
    But who you left behind.

Good insight. We crawl over dead relationships reaching for ones we think will be better.

I just think the idea of someone waking up and realizing what all they left behind is really powerful.
