    Default Senses (1/20/14)

    My eyes are growing tired,
    My mind growing numb.
    I can’t feel my fingers,
This has gone on for too long.

    C
    Awake my senses,
Bring me alive with your touch.
    I’d give anything to feel,
    The slightest nudge.
Breathe me in, exhale me out,
    Jolt me to the core.
I need to feel alive again,
    Before I am done for.

I taste you in my dreams,
    But never when I wake.
I’m terrified of what this means,
    A feeling I can’t shake.

I hear your voice in my head,
    But where have you gone?
My eyes are searching for you,
But you’ve been away too long.

    C
    Awake my senses,
Bring me alive with your touch.
    I’d give anything to feel,
    The slightest nudge.
Breathe me in, exhale me out,
    Jolt me to the core.
I need to feel alive again,
    Before I am done for.

    B
    I smell your sweet cologne,
    But you are not here.
    It’s scary how your presence,
    Still lingers here.
    It lingers.
    It lingers here.
    Lingers.

    C
    Awake my senses,
Bring me alive with your touch.
    I’d give anything to feel,
    The slightest nudge.
Breathe me in, exhale me out,
    Jolt me to the core.
I need to feel alive again,
    Before I am done for.

I think "the slightest nudge" or "the slightest of nudges" would flow better than "even just a nudge".

And maybe change "still lingers here" to "continues to adhere". But I'm just being picky. It's a good song.

I can truly relate to this song. I know the experience how someone's presence (or absence) can be felt in all your senses. Sometimes when I'm standing in the subway or in a queu I can smell a perfume an ex-girlfriend used to wear. That always stirs up some memories. I don't know the name of that perfume and don't want to ask a stranger about it. I'm afraid it will come across as the lamest of opening lines. ;-)

Funny how even when people have moved on, traces remain.

I understand completely! Sometimes I swear I see someone out of the corner of my eye, even if it's an empty room. How strange!
