Only one verse to translate, please!!

"bebin chi be saram oomad ke roozam mesle shab tare,
ke vase didanesh cheshmam dare ashkamo mishmare"

i would translate the first part like this:
"look, what happened to me, that my days become dark nights"

second part:

"in order to look at her, my eyes are counting my tears"
but this sounds a little bit senseless why your eyes should count the tears to look at someone?

it would be great if someone has a better translation

I think it means he's crying a lot to see her, i.e. he's so desperate to see her!
Actually it sounds weird in Farsi too!
