Hot damn, it's been a while since I've posted anything on here! I decided to embark on a musical journey by creating all the music for a concept album based on Dante's Inferno. For those who don't know, Dante's Inferno is basically about a man taking a guided tour through Hell. The lyrics below go to the first two songs in the project, the first song being mostly instrumental with the exception of a spoken word bit toward the end representing the descent into Hell, and the second song based on the first circle of Hell called Limbo. According to the story, Limbo contains the souls of a lot of ancient intellectuals, philosophers and thinkers as well as the souls of unbaptized children. They didn't do anything bad so they can't be punished, but since none of them got baptized their ascension to heaven is impossible, relegating them to the outskirts of Hell. I imagine there would be some confusion from those sent to Limbo, so here's what I came up with to depict my interpretation of that. Enjoy!
ABANDON HOPE, ALL YE WHO ENTER HERE
--------------------------------------------
Through me the way to the city of woe.
Through me the way to everlasting pain.
Now shall I ferry you to the fire, the cold,
And the everlasting darkness.
Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

NOT FAIR!
Back then
I tried to find the meaning of this life and failed.
Back then
My need for knowledge governed everything.
Right now
My brothers in enlightenment just sit and fight.
Right now
What did I do so wrong?
If I had known
Maybe I would not be
Condemned to this place,
Shame on my face.
So much was learned,
Not enough for salvation.
Was the fault mine
Or just the times?
Where was God before my time?
I never knew what I should look for.
God above was nowhere near,
Faith was not an option before death.
Not fair,
Not enough time to find anything.
Not fair,
Too young to know anything.
Aborted, executed,
Too f***ing sick to live beyond one day.
Rejected, abandoned,
Forsaken with my innocence.
If I had known
Maybe I would not be
Condemned to this place,
Shame on my face.
Caught between the best and worst,
I find it hard to understand this.
Lost in time and without sin,
I suffer for the task they missed.
Where was God before my time?
I never knew what I should look for.
God above was nowhere near,
Faith was not an option before death.
Here I am, here I stay,
No pleasure, pain or anything between.
Innocence, moral men,
Sentenced to the pit for no transgression.
Take this fate, shove it down,
Burn it with the righteousness you feel.
f*** this judgement!
