Hi El~Egipcio:
Sure do! That is an awesome song!
Here are the Namania lyrics and English translation from the Afriki CD liner:
Ndjena finini ndoula
Soulakha moussou finini ndoula
Khayi tonbonro khoto lolo
Mein gnoguon te' soulakha kounda
Ndjena Aiche' le doula
Soulakha moussou Aiche' le doula
Khayi tonbonro khoto lolo
Mein gnoguon te soulakha kounda
Lahila ilala yarafatiya
Lahila i dunia yara fatiya
Nibe tambi la tambi
Nibe' sagui la sagui
Khayi ndi djalaba lou boyita kilin kilin

English translation:
I go to my little black girl
My little Moorish girl with ebony skin
The star that shine in the shade of the "tomonon"
The unique beauty of the Moorish region
I go to Aiche', the Moorish girl
Oh, thank you god!
To have put her on my path
That all envious pass
Because I do not want to loser her like
I lost the great "cailcedras" on the banks of the river Kayidin
I am afraid you will disappear from my sight
Where are you then my little ebony girl?
Are you dancing on the festival square?
Namania, despite your aquiline nose, your limpid eyes
Your slenderness, your long neck
Your long arms, your clear skin
You will never equal the little black ebony girl
Mama Djombo! guardian of young initiates
Come to my aid...she is so beautiful
"tomonon" & "cailcedras" <---types of trees
Namania is based on a style called dansa from Keyes, the city where Habib's family originates. Habib sings of a dark-skinned girl from the country. Her beauty leads him to dream of things he has loved and lost, such as the trees from across the river where Habib used to play as a child that have now been cut down to build houses.
I REALLY need the lyrics and translations of Nta Dima and Barra from Habib Koite's Afriki album! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Here are the Nta Dima lyrics and English translation as well as the meaning from the Afriki CD liner:
Background info:
"Nta Dima (I will Not Give Her to You) refers to the Malian marriage traditions and the singer's resistance to giving his daughter to somebody who doesn't deserve her. The bewitching sound of of the antelope horns refers back to a disappearing ancestral musical style that Habib would like to resurrect. "I want to open a small window to the new generation, " explains Habib regarding his use of Malian folk instruments, "to help them hear our old traditions even if it is in new music."
Lyrics:
Tana weyo tana weyo
Menessa naporoka
Tana wema wawe
Froussen tama froussen tama lalou ne kangni lema
A te dila seneke bali ma
Seneke bali e taye konguo lamine ye
A te dila guinguing ke koro ma
Souro kono te sounogo ni yiriba layelete
A te dial homme
Yourou yourour gougou mago ne man fari o gne
A te dila keleke la ma
Sigui ka kouma ma mingne bibi kele keni ma civilise
Oun nden mousso de kodo
Ni ya ta wa bourangna taro tchie ne yi souroukou tama de
I ka tigue na tchoroti
Ka la nela tchie ne gne yi la wa ne yi souroukou tama de
Souroukou tama, souroukou tama
Sounguourou tele bi souroukou tama
English translation:
Marriage arangers, know this!
I will not give her to someone who doesn't know how to farm
Because he who does not farm, must accept hunger
I will not give her to a night watchman
Because the night bird only sleeps in the tops of trees
I will not give her to a brawler
Because, if sitting down to discuss a problem doesn't work
Beating is not a civilised alternative
This concerns my daughter, and if you marry her
Know that I will follow you like a hyena follows its prey
If you are a Casanova, I will follow you like a hyena
Thus spoke the horns of the Minianka

Here are the Barra lyrics and English translation as well as the meaning from the Afriki CD liner:
Meaning:
Habib draws the musical inspiration for "Barra" (Work) from the Peul traditions of Niafunke', a town near Timbuktu in central Mali at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Primarily herders and traders, the Peul were traditionally a nomadic ethnic group, and their music has bluesy and otherwordly quality that is reflected in the traditional violin played here by Hassy Sarre'. Sarre', who performed regularly with Ali Farka Toure' and Afel Boucoum, passes awas prematurely in early 2007.
Lyrics:
Fasso den gnouman laben touma sera
Fasso den gnouman angua wuli angua barra
Fasso den gnouman ya be soro barra la de
Yelema horongna be soro barra la
Toguo tiguiya be soro bara la
Angua wuli angua barra angua wuli ka doke
Mali seneke law ani Mali monikelaw
Awni barra
Makli baguanguennaw ani Mali diaguokelaw
Awni barra
Yerma fourtchini yerma guoyi
Diopen hala nguaren nguolen
Ayet madjarate nashkhall
Angua wuli angua barra
Angua wuli anga doke
English translation:
Good sons of our country,
the time has come to get organized
Let's get up and get to work
We are only good sons of the fatherland through working
We can gain independence thanks to work
We can achieve a good reputation thanks to work
Let's get to work
Let's get up and do something
Farmers, fishermen, animal breeders, tradesmen of Mali
You have proved yourselves,
But take courage and fasten your seat belts
Because the road to development is long
Stop talking so much and let's get to work
A concrete action is better than a long speech
Let's get to work

Hi Alan in Argentina:
That is a great song.
Here is song in the original Bambara language with English translation as well as liner notes from the CD Habib Koite & Bamada's May Ya release in 1999 by Putomayo World Music.
Liner notes:
"In Manding society, it is said that the first daughter brings luck, and that she will be the mother of her young brothers later. She's the one who will go on to fuse the family. That's why her father has to let her a big heritage to help her in her mission." (leave a large inhertitance to care for the younger brothers"
Syra's arm was used for a branch for the desperate bird who was looking for a tree at the sign of the dryness. Syra confided protection of all the fishes to Bafaro, the soul of the waters, and to Simbo, the lion, the protection of all the animals of the forest."
No direct English translation other than liner notes above.
