In the middle of time
I reach back and ask,
How'd I get lost
in the future so fast?
Rewinding years
till the clock restarts,
stopping just short
of a memory too dark.
Caught in a corner
sidestepping freefall,
paused in a moment
that's not me at all,
replay is bound
by intractable fear -
where is the one
who catches my tears...
It's always been you
and it scares me, so deep -
I'm only myself
when my heart's at your feet.
But you, as i find
even so far away,
you're right here beside me
in time-frozen space.
Across a broad ocean
of strange heads and feet,
not sinking but flying
as our eyes meet,
where once the reflection
was blood-red and black,
now you're all i see
as i find my way back.
Rewind again
and in vortex descend
to the flashpoint where everything
came to an end,
screaming alone
at the gateway to hell,
losing it all
but with no one to tell...
Waking to nightmares
that pulled me back in,
saved from that hell
by the Love in his hand -
A mirror of something
much later to come -
fast-forward to you
where time's just begun.
It's not desperation
to walk in the clouds,
it's just dispensation
for fighting it out.
Time moves in circles
but i'm on the line
that points me to you
and the future that's mine.
Tomorrow is here
and the pendulum moves strong
In the middle of time
is where i belong.
