She sings first part of this poem by Boris Pasternak
here's the translation of all poem (not by me):
February. Get ink, shed tears.
Write of it, sob your heart out, sing,
While torrential slush that roars
Burns in the blackness of the spring.
Go hire a buggy. For six grivnas,
Race through the noice of bells and wheels
To where the ink and all you grieving
Are muffled when the rainshower falls.
To where, like pears burnt black as charcoal,
A myriad rooks, plucked from the trees,
Fall down into the puddles, hurl
Dry sadness deep into the eyes.
Below, the wet black earth shows through,
With sudden cries the wind is pitted,
The more haphazard, the more true
The poetry that sobs its heart out.
Thanks a lot, haydee!
Can you or anyone write down the poem in Latin alphabet? Would be great.
Which verses does R.S. sing exactly?
She just sings the first paragraph of that poem (twice) here's the transliteration:
Fevral'. Dostat' chernil i plakat'!
Pisat' o fevrale navzryd,
Poka grohochuschaya slyakot'
Vesnoyu chernoyu gorit fevral'.
Dostat' chernil i plakat'!
Pisat' o fevrale navzryd,
Poka grohochuschaya slyakot'
Vesnoyu chernoyu gorit fevral'.
Thanks TheNuttyOne, that was really quick!
One more question: Does she have an accent in Russian?
What do you think she grew up listening to and speaking russian!!
The answer is no, no accent . She does have a slight English accent in my opinion.
Sorry, but your answer is somehow confusing lol :
No accent, but a slight English accent? So she does have a slight accent to your opinion, if I get it right?
I know that she was living in Russia until the age of about 10 and from then on in the US. This part of her bio is the reason for my question I was just interested whether one can tell from her pronounciation in Russian that she has spent only a part of her childhood in Russia or not.
Oh, or are you saying that she has a slight (Russian) accent in speaking English?
She doesn't have accent when she's singing in Russian
нам ніколи, мабуть, не дійти до межі,
за якою немає ні смутку, ні страху...
Bizim gibi delilere her gün bayram
