    Default very old song 1

Still have a few more unknown songs. These came from my late fathers old reel to reel tape recorder - anyone remember those. This first one has yodeling.

    my sweet little wife
she's 10 years younger than me
shes full of joy and life
but she sometimes goes out on the street
she leaves me behind and the babies do whine
she goes roaming far away from away from our home
while I rock the babies to sleep

    (Yodeling)

I found that it is a version of a Jimmie Rodgers song (that one says 20 years younger this one says 10) but haven't a clue to who this one is. I know these old songs are hard but I'll keep trying.

Smile As I Rock Our Babies to Sleep

Jimmie Rodgers did a song called "Rock All Our Babies to Sleep", but it has different lyrics.
I think the song you are mentioning could be "As I Rock Our Babies to Sleep".

Now I'm just thirty-five and my dear little wife
Is just ten years younger than me.
She's full of enjoyment, had plenty of life
And she sometimes goes out on a spree.

Well, she leaves me behind all kiddies to mind.
And the house in good order to keep.
And then she will roam far away from our home
While I rock the babies to sleep....

I have to say I am kinda confused on one thing tho.... if there is yodeling in the song the name Jimmie Rodgers comes to mind because he was famous for his yodeling.

Otherwise try to check on a singer named Greg Brown. He did a version of this song too.
I hope this info helps you out a little bit

That is interesting, thank you, the lyrics are similar to the ones you say but is that song"As I Rock Our Babies to Sleep" by Jimmie Rodgers as well? Yes this one surely had yodeling but surely not Jimmie Rodgers. I don't think it is Greg Brown either - who I didnt know and not able to find the song by him but I heard him in other songs. Not the same voice.

My guess is that the original composer is Jimmie Rodgers and some artists may have changed some of the lyrics.

I found a version the Maddox version below but the lyrics don't match...

Maddox Brothers and Rose - Rock All Our Babies To Sleep

Here's a comedy album that has 'Rock All Our Babies To Sleep' by **** UNTEED & THE PINE MOUNTAIN BOYS

The title was changed slightly on this album...

Sons of the Pioneers featuring Roy Rogers - While I Rock Our Babies to Sleep

I wonder if the 'Pine Mountain Boys' version could be the one you're looking for. I have not found lyrics or a song clip for this version yet.

Hello Dan, I thank you for all the information. It did not have that old country style sound to it. I don't think it was that old. When I think back on it, it is with humor, not as a sincere song. Did Roy Rogers yodel?

Not that one either )-: I would recognize the vocal. I looked for **** Unteed too, found a sample of another song of his - didn't sound like him either. This song was together with the other songs I can't find. - Little Old Man Inside the Well, Motorcyle Mike . Could have been a novelty kind of record? Don't know how to search for that.
