I am slowly learning German. I have a few questions. The German lyrics provided by citlalli match up almost exactly to the ones I found at http://german.about.com/library/blmus_nena99luftb.htm

My main question is about the contractions, which I rarely see when I read standard German text.

g'rad is contracted in the alternate text I found:

Denkst du vielleicht g'rad an mich

This would be gerade, I assume.

Could someone confirm these others:

'ne Fliegerstaffel hinterher

Dabei war'n da am Horizont

Heute zieh' ich meine Runden

I'm not a native speaker but these come from typical ways of speaking.
You're right, grad is typically short for gerade.
'ne Fliegerstaffel hinterher: A (eine) flying squadron after (them, the 99 Balloons). (Fliegerstaffel is feminine)
It is common when speaking to shorten einer, eine, eines etc to 'ner, 'ne etc.
Dabei war'n da am Horizont: Looks like waren to me. The balloons were..
Heute zieh' ich meine Runden: ziehe ich...
