i heard song, touch my heart please help me find who artist is

I'm driving home one evening listening to the only decent rock-folk-blues station in the podunct town I reside in. At this time the DJ was interviewing an artist that the DJ said was awesome, had some good-successful music that sold but he didn't really want the fame and all. He in my opinion was a cross between Dylan, Jackson Browne, Prine...etc. The song was slow sorta and he was talking about this woman he loved, but wanted her to realize that today its is a dog's world baby-rough rough. He went all over the place. It was a testimonal of his life, his mistakes, his hurts and how the cold reality today is that the world is so ****ed up for the comman man that we could do nothing to better it. It touched me, even made me cry. Would anyone perhaps know this artist, or the song????
