Barefoot – Red lyrics

On a late Tuesday afternoon
the sun shone grey in that Massachusets sky
Red walked into his living room
and found his mother with a tear in her eye
time had changed so it seemed
boys became men at the age of seventeen
red was one of those
what choice did they have for them to go

so they went one by one
they found no confort from that vietnam sun
they wiped the sweat and blood from their face
and though they wondered when their time would soon erase
and each and everyday you know they watch their brothers fall
they drink heavy at night, try to forget it all
didnt know if he would rather be alive or dead
oh this is a story of a man named red

well i'm tellin tales of darkness
no this is not harmless
i hardly sleep
drive by a gun
i can smell the gun powder
the quiet cries gettin louder
all this pain echos in his head
this is the story fo a man named red

walks the streets alone now
cant quite understand how
he was the one to make it home
he came out just as he went in
oh no no no no if you could only see within
he lies awake and looks at his wife
motionless adn helpless
but she has never felt this
but she knows what its like
living with these emotions
each and everyday
he still hears the orders callin callin fire away

taken by the govt.
one by one they went
but they didnt come back

well i'm tellin tales of darkness
no this is not harmless
i hardly sleep
drive by a gun
i can smell the gun powder
the quiet cries gettin louder
all this pain echos in his head
this is the story fo a man named red

but they couldn't have resisted
i guess the govt. insisted
that their new best friend yea their new friends
should die in their arms die in their arms yea arms
