    Default Learning Serbian /Croatian/Bosnian

Since we have a learning Bulgarian thread, but it seems no Serbian? Even though Serbian is more difficult and I believe requires more help!

So as I am now learning Serbian I am hoping we can keep a thread to help answer many questions!

My boyfriend is from Serbia, and tells me that Serbian grammer is apperantly one of the most difficult! And I can easily believe so.. hehe

So some questions I have :

1 - How do you use imperative in Serbian? For instance, I know love me is "voli me" but couldn't that also be "he/she/it loves me".. ?
2 - How do you use plural?
3 - For future tense does "Cu" come before or after the verb?
4 - Also how does past tense work? Soooo confusing! hehe
5 - What does "bas" mean?
    6 - How do you say "I (don't) like..."

Hmm... think that's all for now!
    Thank-you!

First, the easiest question lol ..
I like... = Sviđa mi se
I dont like = Ne sviđa mi se

you can also say: Volim (something) or Ne volim (something) / depends on context .. If you say I (dont) like walking in the rain it would be = (Ne) Volim da šetam po kiši

and if you'd say I (dont) like you = (Ne) Sviđaš mi se

    ---

Baš means really = Baš mi se sviđaš = I really like you

    - For future tense does "Cu" come before or after the verb?

Ću can come after and and before the verb , actually it is part of the verb HTETI which means WANT, and with other verbs it forms future tense

As I said it can come before and after

    Before:

    1. Ja ću uraditi nešto - I will do something
    2. Ti ćeš uraditi nešto - You will do something
    3. On, ona će uraditi nešto - He, she will do something

    1. Mi ćemo uraditi nešto - We will do something
    2. Vi ćete uraditi nešto - You will do something
    3. Oni će uraditi nešto - They will do something

in english it is translated as WILL for all persons, and in serbian you have different form of verb HTETI for every person (ću, ćeš, će, ćemo, ćete, će)

When it comes after the verb, then we combine it with other verb in sentence and they form future tense together

    1. Uradiću nešto
    2. Uradićeš nešto
    3. Uradiće nešto

    1. Uradićemo nešto
    2. Uradićete nešto
    3. Uradiće nešto

it means the same as the first example, only is joined to the other verb, and you cant write it separately

In serbian you can see only from the context what is imperative and what is not

    e.g.
Q: Voli li te? (Does he love you?)
A: Da, voli me (Yes, he,she loves me)

Voli me! - can be imperative, and it can also be some exclamation meaning He, she loves me!

Ahhh! "to like" is so confusing!
So if "I like you" is kinda like "I miss you", you say YOU do so to me.. ? haha, does that make sense? Like, Sviđaš the sh means you, so is confusing.. ah.. so how can you say "you like" or "she likes"?
    I think I understand..
And I understand everything else! Thanks a lot!!! It's a biiiiig help!

I'll start by asking you to write the suffixes for each case. If I knew them all, It'd be way easier for me to speak Serbian.

(Later on, I'll think of other grammar issues to ask you about, but don't you say I'm a pain in the neck for asking so much ;D)

    NO just ask...
And for cases (if you mean on падежи), to be honest, I don't know suffixes
Serbian grammar is difficult but I'll try to find some books from my primary school
The best way to learn them is to speak with people. And I'm here!
Maybe we can speak on serb-english-macedonian. I want to learn some macedonian too
Do you have some other question at the moment?

Hahaha, Vlada, I must admit you made me smile when you said you would try to find books from primary school Yeah, what I meant was падежи Are you sure you don't know the suffixes? Na primer, iz Makedonije, u Makedoniju itd. Nisam sigurna
We absolutely can speak in macedonian/english/serbian, but don't laugh at my serbian! xD
I hope you'll understand Macedonian, and if not, you can ask me whatever you want.
    Jasno? ;D
