I may never find this song

I'm trying to figure out who did this song. I can't remember much of the lyrics but my mom used to sing it to me when i was a little guy. This was about 35-40 years ago, so the song would be pretty old. It had something like knock, knock, knock in the chorus please let me in, it was sorta like a 50's type song something like the four tops or the platters would sing but i think it was from the 60's. It was a finger snapping kind of song. It wasn't knock 3 times on the ceiling, it wasn't knockin on heavens door, wasn't the little blue man. It was a cute kind of song maybe from a one hit wonder. I heard it on an oldies station a few years ago & haven't heard it since. I know this isn't much to work with, but anybody got any ideas?? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks, Rob

Perhaps "Knock on Wood" by Eddie Floyd. The first thing that came into my mind was this song, but the remake during the disco era. I wikipedia the song and it turns out that the original was made by the above mentioned guy in 1966. Good luck!
